FoxNews.com first reported on November 30, 2009 that sources informed them that three members of America’s elite Navy SEAL commando unit — one of the most important special operations units and defenders of freedom and democracy globally — have been detained and are facing charges after capturing a Most Wanted terrorist in Iraq who is believed to have murdered and publicly mutilated Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004.
For those that recall this particular incident, images from the scene were perhaps some of the most disturbing of the entire conflict in Iraq.
Blackwater USA security guards — who, after this disturbing incident and others like it were subsequently accused of shootings and crimes against Iraqis — were brutally murdered and publicly hung from a bridge for cameras to film and crowds to desecrate.
The utter inhumanity of this act spoke more about America’s enemies than words could aptly describe.
For the better part of 5 years, American forces have sought out those responsible to bring the murder of American citizens to justice. And America could count on who else but the the Navy SEALs to find such a fiend, detain him safely, and extract the captive so that he would face charges in court.
And yet, shockingly, disgustingly, absolutely abhorrently, the elite special forces units who captured this most wanted terrorist are facing charges for assault:
Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it. Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
Now, several SEALs and other Navy members are facing what appear to be low-level charges of assault and an alleged conspiracy to cover up the supposed crime.
The military has become hypersensitive to issues of detainee abuse after the Abu Ghriab incident.
The utter hypocrisy of this situation is that last night President Obama gave a speech about his military strategy for Afghanistan — the delay in his decision has been heavily criticized at home and abroad. Poll numbers show his Approval Rating on his handling of the situation in Afghanistan at an abysmal 35%.
The President’s own military strategy is to heavily depend upon special forces including Navy SEALs to secure the country and pursue Osama bin Laden. The President should see to it that the Navy SEALs who are facing charges are speedily exonerated, lest he set a very bad precedent military men and women who are to be deployed in the surge to Afghanistan.
Furthermore, the extent that U.S. military men and women — not to mention some of the most elite commandos who carry out incomprehensibly strenuous, life or death missions without flaw — are being paraded in international headlines and for the sake of the country appearing compassionate for soulless, murderous scumbags like Abed is utterly deplorable and mortally embarrassing.
Contact your Congressperson, write to local representatives and pro-Military organizations to find out what you can do to support these brave Navy SEALs and truly the entire American military.
D.C. area residents may want to participate in a civil protest in Norfolk, Virginia on December 7 to peacefully show their support for the SEALs.

The military abuse their powerful position, that’s my opinion.
The conviction is absolutely disgusting! He’s lucky all he had was a bloody lip to show for his capture, That is in fact showing the Humanity of the situation because he obviously didn’t show such consideration to the people he publicly murdered!
